Speaker: Joseph Barnes, Clean Virginia Waterways


Joseph Barnes is the Marine Debris Prevention Specialist at Clean Virginia Waterways (CVW), a nonprofit dedicated to preventing, researching, and mitigating plastic pollution across Virginia. This presentation will discuss CVW's statewide efforts such as the next 2026-2030 Virginia Marine Debris Reduction Plan, outreach and advocacy campaigns around different plastic pollutants, and some of their latest published research. Clean Virginia Waterways is excited to speak with the Master Naturalists and their communities to work towards future partnerships on a shared mission to preserve, protect, and cherish our natural environment.


All are welcome to join for a social dinner prior to the lecture, at 5 PM. We will enjoy dinner with Joseph Barnes and members of the CE team at Betaneya Ethopian, 14804 Buildamerica Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22191. To join us for dinner, RSVP is strictly required.
