Laura McCall

Secretary

I've been fortunate to work and live in many unique places around the world, and on occasion, to have a small patch of dirt to care for and see what will grow out of it.  I'm always fascinated when I visit a new space and meet the local creatures. My curiosity about them always leads to excellent learning.  I'll inevitably find out new and interesting facts about what makes a plant hardy enough to survive a harsh desert, or a snail pick a mountain peak as its home.  And as I get to know these creatures, I feel like it's my duty to care for them, and the places they live in.  My experiences in Virginia have been just as educational and exciting!

When I moved to Virginia in 2023, I immediately began training and volunteering with the Merrimac Farm Chapter, hoping to learn about my surroundings and contribute to their stewardship.  In 2025, I assumed the Secretary position on the Board, and I'm enjoying feeling more involved.  My goal is to put my organizational skills to work in helping the chapter with their planned projects.  I look forward to seeing the chapter grow, and to continue to get to know this beautiful place I now call home.
